On July 4, 1953, he married his sweetheart, Mona Lee Langton. Shortly after, Don went into the military, and they raised three sons. They loved the lakes, especially Lake Ouachita where they enjoyed house boating for many years. Together, they enjoyed their RV and travelled the United States and Canada. Married for over 64 years, Mona passed away in 2017.
Don joined the United States Air Force in early 1954 and retired over 20 years later as a Master Sergeant. During his career as a missile technician, he worked on the SNARK and ballistic missiles throughout the United States and overseas. He kept in contact with his many veteran friends. He loved cars, hunting, traveling, fishing, vegetable gardening, woodworking and, oh yes, Cars. Don and Mona really enjoyed gathering with friends at the Moose Lodge. In his later years, he was a regular at the Sherwood Senior Center.
Don is survived by his sons, six grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter, along with his nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents and his brothers and sisters.
