Wilbur H. “Bill” Wamsley, 93, of Willow Street and formerly of Media, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Lakeside at Willow Valley.

Born in Prospect Park, PA, he was the son of the late Willard E. and Marie (Reinerth) Wamsley.

Bill celebrated 72 years of marriage with his wife Alice E. (Bernard) Wamsley last July. Bill served as a Chief Electrician’s Mate in the US Navy during World War II on board the USS Relief and USS Sapolo. He later attended Wharton School of Business. Bill founded Wamsley Associates, Inc., a machinery and consulting business, which he ran for 35 years, before retiring in 1987. He also owned Terra Cycling, Inc. He was an avid golfer and member of Spring Haven Country Club in Wallingford. Bill enjoyed reading, playing Bridge and working on the computer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Media.

Surviving Bill in addition to his wife Alice are two sons; David W. Wamsley, husband of Emily (McCarty), of Lawrence, KS, and Brian L. Wamsley, husband of Eileen McLaughlin, of Nanuet, NY; daughter-in-law Hirono Oka of Cherry Hill, NJ; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and his brother Donald Wamsley, of Little Rock, AR. Bill was preceded in death by his son Wilbur E. Wamsley, and his siblings Dorothy C. Tallardy, Elizabeth Adkins and Robert E. Wamsley.

A Viewing from 10 to 10:30 am, followed by a 10:30 am service with Rev. Robert Stahl officiating, will take place Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602, followed by Interment with Military Honors at Conestoga Memorial Park.
