Willard Ernest, "Ernie", was the third of four children born to DeWitt K. and Etta Augusta Wamsley of Middletown, New York. He married Marie Reinerth and they had 5 children. He had many experiences about his work as an autombile mechanic and welder. He worked on the first American-made car, the Haynes, along with the Thomas Flyer, the Cameron, the old two-cylinder Buick, along with the 1903 Stutz Bearcat and the 1912 Maxwell. In 1951, the family went back to the Catskill Mountains and ran the Bonneyview Lodge, which his father built. After 10 years, he and Marie retired to Mardela Springs, Maryland to be close to their daughter, Betty Adkins. In July of 1967, he had a pacemaker installed, which was new at the time. He enjoyed hunting and fishing all of his life.
