Alice E. Wamsley, 96, of Willow Street, PA and formerly of Media, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Lakeside at Willow Valley. Born in Swarthmore, PA, she was the daughter of the Harry L. and Alice A. (Pierce) Bernard. Alice's husband of 72 years, the late Wilbur H. "Bill" Wamsley, died in 2015.

She graduated from Swarthmore High School and attended Swarthmore College. A homemaker, Alice worked as a secretary for 6 years after completing her education. Alice enjoyed playing bridge, singing, music, reading, sewing, gardening, knitting, playing the organ, and painting.

An avid golfer, she was member of Spring Haven Country Club in Wallingford. Alice was a member of First United Methodist Church, Media, where she sang in the choir for 35 years. She had been involved in the Peace Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Alice is survived by her two sons, David W. Wamsley, husband of Emily (McCarty) of Rock Hill, SC and Brian L. Wamsley, husband of Eileen (McLaughlin) of Nanuet, NY; her daughter-in-law Hirona Oka, wife of Alice's late son, Wilbur E. Wamsley, of Cherry Hill, NJ, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Elsie Dimeler of Aston, PA. In addition to her husband Bill and son Wilbur, Alice was preceded in death by 8 siblings.

A viewing from 10 to 10:30 AM, followed by a 10:30 AM service with Rev. Robert Stahl officiating will take place Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602, followed by interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 727 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
