Sheridan, Sept. 10.-- Robert Simpson, a resident of Madison county for over 50 years, passed away at the county farm Tuesday night. His son, Thomas Simpson, of Butte has been in attendance at his bedside for two weeks. Mr. Simpson was about 83 years of age and at one time was one of the best blacksmiths in the county. The funeral will be held Friday.

Another of the early day residents of the valley passed in the death of Robert Simpson at the county farm Tuesday. Mr. Simpson made his home in Sheridan and Alder for many years. One son is a resident of Butte the rest of the family moved to California several years ago. Mr. Simpson preferred to remain in Montana. Mrs. Simpson died at the home of her daughter in California a short time ago.* A half sister, Mrs. Peach, who lives in Bozeman, has been confined in a hospital for several weeks.

The obituary for his son, Thomas Simpson, in 1937, mentions that Thomas was buried in the Sheridan Cemetery where his father, brother Oliver, and sister Norah are buried.
