Sheridan, Feb. 9-- A gloom was cast over this community Saturday, February 4, 1922, at 3 p.m. when it became known that Oliver Simpson had passed away after an illness of one week's duration with pneumonia. The last breath of his life left him in the same house and in the same room that the first breath of life came to him on August 10, 1892. On Sunday March 8, 1917 he was united in marriage to Miss Marie Ramey, by whom with the two little sons, Fay and Albert, he is survived. Other surviving relatives are his mother Mrs. Robert Simpson, who is in California and could not return to see her son before death claimed him nor for the funeral, his sister, Mrs. May Harness of Glendale, Cal., Miss Alice Simpson of Stockton, Cal., and brother Walter, who also resides with his mother in Glendale, his aged father, Robert Simpson, a twin sister, Mrs. M. J. (Olive) Blair, and brother Thomas, all of Sheridan. The funeral was held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and was largely attended, the seating capacity of the sacred edifice being taxed by sympathizing friends. Owing to nervous prostration his grief stricken wife was unable to attend the service. The pews on one side of the church were reserved for the members of Montana Lodge No. 1 A. F. and A. M. of Virginia City of which he was made a member on May 19, 1919, and members of Sheridan Lodge No. 20 A. F. and A. M. The religious services were conducted by Rev. Cunningham and were beautiful and impressive. The funeral cortege was escorted to the cemetery by the Masonic Lodges with G. D. Vickers as marshal.
