Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Ronald Aebersold; son, Michael Lee Aebersold; sisters, Virginia LaCaillade and Betty Cross Riddle; and brothers, Frederick Sawyers and Dick Sawyers.
Shirley was a graduate of both Lindsey Wilson and Western KY Universities. Shirley started teaching in a one room school house in Albany, KY in 1960. She taught in Meade County at Battletown, James R. Allen, and Muldraugh Elementary Schools. She taught in some capacity for 40 years. She loved teaching and loved her students.
She was a member of the Brandenburg United Methodist Church where she loved to help prepare and serve meals. Shirley loved spending time with her "Flamingo Girls" and faithfully attending her Sawyers and Hay reunions. She had an incredible sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Shirley is survived by her children, Doug (Ilene) Aebersold and Rhonda Aebersold both of Brandenburg. Grandchildren, Cole (Bliss) Aebersold, Megan (Brad) Sonner, Shelbi (CJ Saylor) Humphrey, Kurt Aebersold, and Molly Aebersold all of Brandenburg; great-grandchildren, Addison, Hadley, & Brinley Saylor, and Whitt Aebersold; sisters, Mary Ann Britton, Margaret Harbin, Gaye (Lynn) Campbell, and Charlene Bolton; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 4-8:00 P.M. at the Brandenburg United Methodist Church in the family life center; and Monday, from 9-12:00 Noon in the sanctuary of the church. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 12 noon in the Brandenburg United Methodist Church Sanctuary. Burial will follow in Eastlawn cemetery next to her husband.
