Laila Inga Borreson, was born August 25, 1908 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Lars and Inga (Johnson) Borreson. She was brought for baptism by her parents as a young child. In 1916, the family moved to Velva, McHenry County, North Dakota where her father was the proprietor of a Shoe Shop. The family attended the Lutheran Church in Velva and Laila gave her affirmation of faith statement on May 27, 1923 after completing her confirmation studies. She attended school in Velva, ND.
She married Lauchlin "Lock" Vollrath in Minot, ND on January 24, 1929. He died September 9, 1972. Laila lived in Lane County for many years. She designed and made wedding gowns and she enjoyed gardening. Prior to her marriage, she joined with the Catholic Church and remained a member of that denomination where she was active in the Alter Society. Laila died April 28, 1996 at Eugene at the age of 87 years. The funeral was held May 1, 1996 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Eugene with burial at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Eugene. Survivors include two sisters, Thelma Surdam of Eugene and Stella Resimius of Plymouth, Wisconsin. Visitation was held at the Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene.
