Leonard A. Borreson was born in LaCrosse Wisconsin August 15, 1902 to Lars and Inga Borreson. About 1905 they moved to Antler, Saskatchewan, Canada where they lived until about 1918 when they moved to Velva, North Dakota. Leonard attended high school at Velva while he worked at many different jobs in the community such as threshing, farming, and also worked on the railroad section for sometime. Sometimes he helped repair shoes at his father's shoe shop. From about 1922 to 1926 he worked for steel company building water towers. In 1926 Leonard returned to Velva and become employee at the Dickinson Nicholas Hardware Store where he worked until 1946 when he opened a plumbing and heating establishment of his own. He operated this until January 1961 when he was stricken by a severe stroke and become an invalid for 16 years. He was cared for at their home by Margaret until his death May 3 1977.
On September 23, 1928, Leonard and Margaret Wang were married in the Oak Valley parsonage by Rev. L.T. Reishus. Witnesses were Laila Borreson and Thoralf Borreson, sister and brother of Leonard.
Margaret was born in Whitehall, Wisconsin on January 2, 1907. In 1910 Margaret with her mother Lesa (Lizzie) Wang came to the Velva community. Margaet attended Ward School through the eighth grade and in 1922 entered Velva High School graduation in 1926.
Leonard and Margaret had two daughters Lois Margaret was born February 26, 1932 who is now Mrs. Freeman Peterson of Sawyer, North Dakota. Ruth Ann was born February 15, 1935 and she is married to Otto Boechler of Karlsruhe. She passed away March 27, 1973. There are 7 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Leonard was active in many organizations, he served on the city commission for many years. He was Past Grand Master of the Odd Fellows Lodge of North Dakota. He was also a Shriner and he was a member of Hjerdal Lutheran Church of Voltaire, North Dakota.

Margaret's interests besides being a house wife were gardening, flowers, bowling and sewing and at the time of this writing she is still active in all these activities (1985).
