Bert E. Pennington Johnsonville

A well known resident of Johnsonville Bert Everett Pennington, 81, died at 2:40 Saturday, February 7 in the Clay County Hospital in Flora.

He was a retired carpenter and painter.

Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Hosselton-DeSelms Funeral Home in Cisne with Rev. Charles Harrington officiating. Burial was in the Johnsonville Cemetery.

Mr. Pennington was born in Indian Prairie Township Feb. 6, 1895, the son of James and Emma (Berry) Pennington. He married Beulah Spicer on September 3, 1913, in Mt. Vernon. She survives.

He attended the Pentecostal churches.

Surviving are his widow; two sons, Harlan, of Peoria; and Forest , of Johnsonville; two daughters, Mrs. Theda Copher, of Chicago Heights; Mrs. Bernadeen [sic] Pryor, of Sandoval; seven grand children; one brother James, of Cisne; and three sisters, Mrs. Dicie Linthicum, of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Pearl McManman, of Chicago; and Mrs. Cleo Grubb, of Cisne.

He was preceded in death by one son, Frederick DeLawn; one sister, Essie Brown; and one brother, Eldon.
