George C. Goertz, 86, of Clayton, died Wednesday, Jan 3, 1973, at 9:45am in Grand View Manor Nursing Home in Camp Point.

He was born in Concord Township, April 15, 1886, a son of Jacob and Fredricka Hanke Goertz. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

He married Josephine Mixer Feb. 23, 1910 in Columbus Township. She died Jan. 12, 1958.

Surviving are a son, Wilbur of Clayton; four daughters, Mrs Marion (Zelma) Syrcle of Baylis, Mrs. Ottes (Doris) Pruett of Maquon, Mrs. William (Edna) Parn and Mrs. Everett (Irene) Kindhart, both of Clayton; a sister, Mrs, Peter (Ida) Helmreich of Camp Point, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2PM in the Clayton Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial was in the South Side cemetery, Clayton, IL. Pall bearers were Lloyd and James Helmreich, Charles Goertz, Neil Gibson, Sylber and Harold Mixer.
