MORRISDALE - Wilma Sunderland of Morrisdale was born Nov. 12, 1930, a daughter of Gard M. and Violet (Rowles) Bloom.

In 1951, she married G. James Tibbens of Allport who preceded her in death in December 1973. She then married Merle L. Sunderland of Clearfield in October 1979. He preceded her in death in March 1991.

Wilma was a graduate of Morris Township High School. She was a registered nurse, graduating first in her class from Philipsburg State General Hospital's school of nursing in 1951. She was employed by the same hospital until her retirement in 1978. She then worked a short while for Clearfield Hospital as a home health nurse, retiring permanently in 1979.

She was an active member of Allport United Methodist Church, where she directed the church choir. She was most recently a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church and an associate member of the United Church of Christ in Seminole, Fla.

She was a former member of the Curwensville/Clearfield Country Club and the Grandview Country Club, where she loved playing golf. She was a former member of the Round Robin Dance Club and the Chinklacamoose Square Dance Club where she enjoyed modern western square dancing and round dancing.

Wilma is survived by a daughter, Jamie L. Berkley and her husband Tom of Morrisdale; two step-sons, James L. Sunderland and wife Joyce of Turtlepoint and Norman R. Sunderland and wife Patty of Siegle; a grandson, Jim Berkley of Ashland, Ohio; a great-grandson, Dillon Berkley of Ashland, Ohio; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by an infant son, George James Tibbens II; her father and mother; brothers, Darl R. Bloom, captain and jet pilot in the Marine Air Corp, Clark Bloom, who was the first naval academy graduate from Morrisdale, Carl Bloom of Morrisdale, and Jim "Ray" Rowles of Florida; her precious daughter, Debra Largent passed away in March of 2014. Also preceding her in death were an infant sister; son-in-law, Steve Largent of Florida; step-son, Lee Sunderland of Clearfield; and in 1993, her granddaughter, Crystal Dawn Berkley.

The Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale is in charge of the arrangements.

At Mrs. Sunderland's request, there will be no public visitation. Viewing will be for immediate family and step-family only, with services at the convenience of the family.
