"Clark O. Bloom, 82, of Morrisdale, Pa., died Sunday March 13, 2005, at Windy Hill Village of the Presbyterian Homes in Philipsburg, Pa.

He was born March 27, 1922 in Glen Richey, Pa., a son of the late Gard M. and Beryle (Bauman) Bloom.

He was a naval veteran of World War II and retired in 1980 from the position of Superintendent of Schools in Ellenville, N.Y.

He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. in 1944. He received his Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1950. He also received a Professional Diploma from Columbia University.

Mr. Bloom was a member of the following organizations: U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association, the National Education Association, the New York State Retired Teachers Association, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Mr. Bloom was a member of the Morrisdale United Methodist Church, where he had taught Sunday School. He was a former member of the Centre Hill Grange Post #885, in rural Morrisdale, and was a past school board director in the West Branch School District. He was also the first person in the Morrisdale area to attend the U.S. Naval Academy.

He is survived by a sister, Wilma Sunderland of Indian Shores, Fla.; a brother, Ray Rowles of Niagra Falls, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Violet Bloom; and two brothers, Carl Bloom and Darl Bloom.

Direct cremation with no services was observed by the family at the request of Mr. Bloom. Interment was in the Allport Cemetery, Allport, Pa.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to: Windy Hill Village of the Presbyterian Homes, 100 Dogwood Dr., Philipsburg, PA 16866, or to the South Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 2001 N. Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17102.

Arrangements were under the direction of Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, 171 Deer Creek Rd., Morrisdale, PA 16858."
