Funeral services for George F Tollett, 69, were held at Parham's Chapel near Litton Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m.
Mr Tollett died at Cumberland Medical Center about midnight Friday, April 1 after 10 days of critical illness and several months of declining health. Burial was at Tollett cemetery.
Mr Tollett, a farmer, was born August 14, 1884 and reared in Bledsoe county, living near Litton. He was the son of Franklin and Sally Haley Tollett, and a member of the Presbyterian church. His wife, the former Martha Wilson, preceded him in death. She was the mother of the 3 elder sons, Creed, Finis and Woodrow, all of whom survive.
His second marriage was to Jane Scott who came here from Minnesota, and they wed in 1926. They had 8 children, all of whom survive: Mrs Oakley (Betty) Hill, Oak Ridge; Miss Mary Belle Tollett, at home; 6 sons, Robert and William, Dayton, Oh; Cpl John, Ft Jackson, SC; Charles, David and Danny Joe, at home. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs J L Kerley and Mrs A F Lee, Litton.
Mr Tollett and his family had made their home in and near Crossville for more than 16 years. His last conscious hours were spent giving to his family and many of his friends of his humor and cheerful outlook on life both here and hereafter.
