Manitowoc - Elaine Grace Karbon, age 90, of Manitowoc, passed away early Thursday morning, April 15, 2021 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

The former Elaine Schelthelm was born on December 3, 1930 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Adam and Lucille (Fricke) Schelthelm. Elaine attended school in Manitowoc and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1950. On September 9, 1961 Elaine was married to Elmer A. Karbon at Waukegan, IL for 48 years until his death on November 14, 2009. She worked in accounting and was a cashier at the Newton State Bank for four years, and one year at a bank in Daytona Beach, Florida. Elaine retired after 32 years working as a cashier in accounting for the City of Manitowoc.

Elaine loved her flower gardens, embroidery and crochet work. She was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her beloved daughter: Audrey Marilyn Karbon and her significant other: William K. Caylor, Lexington, KY; one grandson: Christopher Michael (Kristin) Adkins, Salem, VA; one great-grandson: Henry Tudor Adkins, Salem, VA; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Sharon Gappa, Sandra (Orrin) Skattebo, Florence Roedig, all of Manitowoc; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Adam and Lucille Schelthelm, her husband: Elmer Karbon, one grandson: Jeremy A. Adkins, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Joseph and Ella Karbon; one brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Mary) Schelthelm; three sisters and five brothers-in-law: Shirley Mae (Dale) Gulseth, Joyce (Edward) York, Germaine (Milton) Diegel, Greg Gappa, Richard Roedig.

Funeral services will be held (TODAY) at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Revs. Robert Kujawaski and Stephen Melso will officiate. Burial will take place at Branch Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Fund has been established in Elaine's name for the Manitowoc Lutheran High School, Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or Bethany Ev. Lutheran Library Fund. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
