TALMADGE ALONZO MIDDLETON, 86, passed from this life Tuesday morning, November 3, 2020 at Solaris HealthCare in Palatka after an extended illness.
Mr. Middleton, a Putnam County and Pomona Park native. He attended local schools in Pomona Park and Crescent City and also served his country proudly with the United States Army. He started working at Hudson Pulp and Paper Mill, now Georgia Pacific, over 40 years ago sweeping floors and worked his way up to assistant superintendant of number3 paper machine before his retirement. Besides working full time with the paper mill, he farmed growing hay, peas, and watermelons.
He was very active on the Pomona Park Town Council serving a combined total of 46 years as Councilman and Mayor. He was a member of the Putnam County Fair Board, Putnam County Cattleman's Association and he was a past President of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1641. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, farming, rodeos, and working his cows. He also sang with a gospel group years ago and he was an avid Florida Seminole fan.
He is survived by his sons, Dale (Marie) Middleton of Seville and Kenny Middleton of Crescent City; a daughter, Charlotte Middleton of Pomona Park; two grandsons, Raymond Middleton and Steven Sellars; great grandchildren, Trenton Middleton and Allie Middleton as well as many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends and family for visitation on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. to the time of service at 11:00 A.M. at Pilgrim Congregational Church with Pastor Wesley Price officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery in Crescent City. In lieu of flowers he requested donations be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church,103 Church Street, Pomona Park, Florida Avenue, New Mount Tamo Baptist Church 33 North Railroad Avenue, Pomona Park, Florida or to the First Baptist Church of Pomona Park, 112 Holly Avenue, Pomona Park, Florida 32181.
The family has requested that those that attend to please adhere to Covid-19 guidelines of wearing face masks and social distancing for everyone's protection.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clayton Frank & Biggs Funeral Home, Crescent City, Florida.
