MARTHA M. NEWTON, 86, passed away at Palatka Health Care Center Tuesday evening, December 1, 2015.
A Florida and Putnam county native, she was born in Pomona Park and graduated from Crescent City High School. Mrs. Newton worked for and retired from Putnam County School Board. She also worked at Crestwood Nursing Home and Georgia Pacific Credit Union. She was a member of Francis Baptist Church and sang in the choir there. She was a great Mom and Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Edward Newton in 2002.
She is survived by her son, Elbert “Skip” (Candy) Newton of Ormond Beach; daughters, Susan Goolsby of Pomona Park, Charlene (Gary) Nelson of Palatka; Sally (Donnie) Paul of Foley, Alabama, Teresa Combs of Macon, Georgia and DeDe (Bryan) Eubanks of Palatka; a Brother, Alonzo Middleton of Palatka. Eleven Grandchildren; Eighteen Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandchild.
The family will welcome guests for visitation on Saturday, December 5th at 10:00 A.M. at Francis Baptist Church, 150 CR 309C, Palatka, Florida. Memorial Services will begin at 11:00 A.M.. Burial will be at Eden Cemetery in Crescent City at 3:00 P.M.
