Dom Pedro Luis de Orleans-Braganza (Dom Pedro Luiz Maria José Miguel Gabriel Rafael Gonzaga de Orleans e Bragança e Ligne was his Brazilian name)was a Brazilian prince (as long as he could be considered as a prince since in Brazil there's no monarchy anymore). To properly speak, he was a descendant of Brazil's former imperial family. He was the fourth in line to the Brazilian throne, if the monarchy in Brazil would exist.

Dom Pedro was a young man who loved his work and his duties and that, despite of his origins, worked in Europe as an economist. He was single and had no girlfriend.

On June 1st, 2009, back home after visiting his parents and siblings in Brazil, he took the Air France Flight 447 to Paris that misteriously dissapeared when flying over the Atlantic Ocean. This tragedy caused 228 victims, no survivors.

Survivors to Dom Pedro are his parents, Brazilian prince Antonio Joao de Orleáns-Braganza and Belgian Princess Cristina de Ligne; two sisters, Amelia and María Graciela; a brother, Rafael, and his maternal Grandmother, Alicia de Ligne, and paternal Grandmother, María de Brasil, along with numerous cousins, uncles and aunts, all of them members of the Brazilian and European royalty.

He and his family were Catholics with strong beliefs, and even though his body has not been recovered, a funeral mass was officiated for him in presence of all his family.

This site is devoted to Dom Pedro and to all the victims of the tragedy of Air France Flight 447.
