Helena (also known as Lena) was the daughter of John August Jostes and Mary Rott. She married Henry Kaus on 1 Sep 1897 at St. Bernard Catholic church, in St. Bernard, Platte County, Nebraska. Lena was the mother of nine children: Albert John "Al", Peter Joseph "Pete", Cecilia Emma "Ceil", Marie Margurite, Odelia Amelia "Della", Leo Frank, Arnold John, Anastasia Catherine and Victor Henry Frederic "Vic".
