GOLDEN WEDDING
Interesting Event Celebrated at Poplett Residence in Peoria Heights
Mr and Mrs William Poplett of Peoria Height celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Wednesday. Mr poplett was born in Park county, Indiana, in 1834, coming to this county when 1 year of age. He was married to Clarissa Clifton November 1, 1855. To them were born ten children, of whom seven are living. Wylie and Albert of Ford county, James and George of Peoria Heights, Mrs Frank Stahlman of Peoria, and Anna and Mamie living at home. They have five grandchildren. Their children and grandchildren were all present at this happy event with the exception of the two sons and their wives who live in Ford county. Although over 70 years of age Mr & Mrs poplett are enjoying the best of health. The occasion was one long to be remembered and everybody was duly happy.

On Monday, November 1, the members of the family of Mr and Mrs William Poplett spent the day at the old Poplett home in the north end of the the Heights, the occasion being the fifty-fourth wedding anniversary of these highly esteemed old people. Mr & Mrs poplett were married here over half a century ago and it perhaps amazes them when they contemplate the changes time has wrought since their wedding day. Mr poplett came here from Virginia when quite young and has lived within a few miles of this place ever since. Mrs poplett was born in this county and has also alway resided here. Mr poplett is 75 years old and his wife a year younger. These worthy people who are now traveling the esteern slope of time can look back over the past and feel that their lives have not been lived in vain. The can feel the consciousness that they have the respect and esteem of the whole community and that they have given as a heritance (an inheritance?) to the world a family of sons and daughters. The children who were present Monday were Erv and James Poplett and their wives, Misses Anna and Mayme Poplett, and Mrs Stahlman. a couple of other sons who live in Ford county were not present.
