George Ervin Poplett, 75, a lifelong resident of Peoria county and last member of a pioneer family, died at 1:40 p. m. Monday at his home, 3519 Prospect road, following an illness of several years.
Born on the site of the Mt. Hawley airport on Dec.31. 1875, he was the son of William and Clarissa Clifton Poplett. Her married Carrie Turner June 8, 1904 in Peoria Heights. He was a retired self-employed electrical contractor, a 50-year member of the Modern Woodmen of America, and a member of the Peoria Height Congregational church.
Surviving are his wife and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday at the residence withCummerford-Endsley mortuary in charge. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Friends may call at the residence after 2 p .m. today.
