Sharon Gay (Mitchell) Denney was born on July 10, 1955 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to Eugene Stanley Mitchell and Mary Lorraine (Cole) Mitchell. Sharon had three older brothers (Eugene, Steve, and Stacey) and one sister (Sandi (Mitchell) Johnson).
As a child Sharon lived in Raytown, Missouri and she attended schools in the Raytown School District, including Eastwood Hills Elementary, Pittman Hills Jr. High School, and Raytown High School.
On October 22, 1971, Sharon married Alan Wayne Shields. Sharon and Alan had one child named Alan Wayne Shields, Jr. On December 15, 1981, Sharon married her second husband, James E. Swigert. Sharon and James had two children: James Swigert Jr. and Melissa Ann (Swigert) Miller. On October 16, 1987, Sharon married her third husband, Robert Eric Denney.
Sharon loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Sharon was also an animal lover who had several dogs, cats, guinea pigs and other pets throughout her lifetime.
Sharon passed away on January 17, 2021 in Independence, Missouri. Sharon was predeceased by her parents and first husband. She is survived by her siblings, children, several grandchildren, and many friends.
