Eugene S. Mitchell Sr., "Grandpa Budha", 77, of south Kansas City, passed away June 10, 2003, at Research Medical Center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 13, at the Park Lawn Chapel, Hillcrest Road at 83rd Street. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Gene was born December 23, 1925 in Kansas City, MO. He worked 30 years in the General Motors Corporation at Leeds, retiring in 1985 as an Electrical and Pneumatic Engineer. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 93 and was Baptist in faith. Gene leaves his wife of 56 years, Mary; five children, Eugene S. Mitchell Jr. and his wife, Ana, Stephen G. Mitchell, Stacey L. Mitchell and his wife, Jessie, Sharon G. Denney, Sandi K. Johnson and her husband, Marcus; a brother, Jerry Timms and his wife, Shirley; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gene loved all sports, especially golf in his later life, and also was a gardener and enjoyed wood working. He will be lovingly missed by his family and friends.
