MRS. MOFFITT, LONG LIVED NEAR MONICA

Caroline Matilda Lawrence was born in Mamaronic, Westchester Co., N. Y. June 18th, 1843. She passed away at her home in Monica, Ill., on Dec. 27th, 1915, aged 73 years, 6 months and nine days.

She came to Illinois in the year 1855 and settled with her parents in Jubilee township, Peoria county. She was married to Francis Moffitt May 28th, 1865. To them were born nine children, Mary J. Harlan, of Bradford, Ill., Ann M. Fry who died Sept 29th, 1889, Charles W. who died in infancy, May B. Hill, George G., Robert W., and Henry F., all of Monica, Rachel E. Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and Carrie M. Wilson of Enia?, Washington. There are two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Harrison of Princeville and Mrs. Rachael Harrison of Peoria, one brother Frank Lawrence of Princeville, also 27 grand children and three great-grand children.

She united with the M. E. church of Monica in 1886 and was a faithful and consistent Christian during life. Mrs. Moffitt came of New York's noble people and her life was one of sterling value. She assisted in every way possible to leave a rich inheritance for her children and the children born in this home are making good along lines of public worth. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Bliss of Toulon assisted by the Rev. Bowlin of Monica. Interment was in the Princeville cemetery.
