Frances married Cpl. Arnold L. Staples Sr. on April 7, 1945 at the home of her sister Ethel (Cox) Reynolds in Addison, Maine. From Frances' obituary in the Bangor Daily News, December 27, 2001: BROOKLIN, ME AND GRAFTON, MA – Frances M. (Cox) Staples, 90, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully Dec. 24, 2001 in her sleep at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Special Care facility in Westborough, Mass. She was born Nov. 8, 1911 in Dennysville, Maine, a daughter of Jesse Sewall and Lottie Pullen (Whitney) Cox. She graduated from Pembroke High School in 1929 and from the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Nursing School, where she worked as a registered nurse until 1966. She then moved to Massachusetts, where she was employed at Framingham Union Hospital and Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, Mass. At Leonard Morse she was the head nurse in the surgical recovery unit until her retirement in 1978. She is survived by one son, Arnold Staples, and his wife Susan of Skowhegan, Maine; one daughter Leona Foskett of Grafton, Mass.; one brother Ret. Col. Curville Cox and his wife Betty of Virginia; three special grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband Arnold L. Staples; four brothers Merrill, Nathaniel, Paul, and Alton Cox; and three sisters Ethel Reynolds, Hazel Wilbur, and Madeline Cox. Friends are invited to call 12:30 to 2:00 pm Friday, Dec. 28, 2001 at Healey Funeral Home, 141 South Street, Blue Hill, where funeral services will follow at 2 pm with the Rev. James Lufkin officiating. Interment will be at Brooklin Cemetery, Brooklin.
