First child born to Edward Carter Cox and Mary Elizabeth Preston Hallowell. Siblings were: Edward C. Cox Jr., Sophronia Brown Cox, and Bernard L. Cox. Married on March 21, 1903 Lottie Whitney of Jonesboro. Jesse & Lottie lived on Shore Road, their house overlooked Cobscook Bay. They had 9 children. In 1920 they moved to Marion, Maine in the hopes that moving inland would improve Lottie's health.
