Jake Gilbert Tobin was born Aug 29, 1929 in Oakes, ND to John Edward (Jack) Tobin 1880-1962 and Emma Edith Kunce 1889-1978. His parents were both from Burlington Junction, MO and married in 1909 but moved to Oakes, ND with other family in 1914. Jack had bought a farm on the north edge of Oakes. Jake was the last of the 3 children, Vincent dePaul Tobin 1911-1940 and Virginia Muriel (Tobin) Shpall 1913-2000. Jake's family moved to New Rockford, ND but then his parents divorced and Jake and Virginia went with their mother, Emma, to Denver, CO where they lived in a boarding house hotel. Vincent and his dad, Jack Tobin moved back to Burlington Junction, MO. Then Emma and the children moved to Anaheim, CA when Jake was still young. Jake began working in the science department of a TV company. Jake married Anita Fern Adams 1928-2008 on June 19, 1947. They had 4 children: 1.Steven Leslie Tobin, who was born on his mother's 20th birthday in 1948, 2.Sandra Diane (Sandy) Tobin 1951, 3.Gary Gilbert Tobin, 1956, 4.Juliette Victoria (Julie) Tobin Negron, 1967. For a short time, Jake and Anita Tobin lived in Branson, MO and got to visit Maryville, MO to view for the first time, the graves of his dad, Jack Tobin and his brother, Vincent Tobin, and to see where his dad lived in Burlington Junction, MO and to meet lots of his Tobin cousins for the first time. Jake and Anita moved back to Hemet, CA where they died and are buried at Gate of Heaven cemetery, Hemet, CA. Anita died Nov 29, 2008 and Jake died a few months later on May 15, 2009.
