Carl William Bennett Sept. 20, 1914-March 21, 1999
Carl William Bennett died at his Philomath home on Sunday. He was 84.
He was born in Fall City to Robert and Frances (Harris) Bennett. He moved to Philomath with his parents in the early 1920's and attended Philomath High School, then worked in the logging and sawmill industry. He married Juanita Wyatt on April 11, 1936, in Philomath. She preceded him in death in November 1998.
After retiring in the mid-1960's, he drilled water wells and entered the hardware business. He and his wife owned and operated a Myrtlewood Hobby Shop. In 1975, he began work at the Timber Supply Shop in Philomath.
He was Oregon's "state" trap shooter for a couple of years in the early 1960's. He enjoyed golf and all outdoor activities and was a fan of Philomath High School sports.
He was a life member of the Elks, Al Kader Shrine, Masons, Moose and the Odd Fellows.
Survivors include sons Dennis Bennett of Philomath and Don Bennett of Albany; daughters Janice Bennett of Corvallis and Karen Berklund and Joanne Thomas, both of Philomath; brothers Marvin and Ron Bennett of Philomath and Raymond Bennett of Corvallis; sisters Marvelle Christenson of Philomath and Roberta Barnhouse of Corvallis; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, at McHenry Funeral Home. Private vault inurnment will follow at Mt. Union Cemetery.
