David Herbert Swanson, aka Dipper, passed away October 27, 2020, at Fall River Health in Hot Springs, S.D.
David was born February 9, 1943, to Herbert and Mildred (Heasly) Swanson. He lived a full and wonderful life. On June 4, 1966, he married Mary Knudsen and together they had four children. They farmed east of Spink for many years, and owned and operated Arbor Hill Kennels. Dave also worked as a pipeliner, laid fiber optic lines, worked security at Buffalo Chip, and was a Transport Deputy for Union County, S.D. He was also a licensed gun dealer.
Mary passed away July 2, 2011. David then married Connie Henke on December 28, 2013. They made their home in Hot Springs in 2014.
He enjoyed working in the shop with wood, especially making stars. He loved spending time with family and friends, and his dog Eddie. Dave was very proud of his family, and he always had a story to tell. David will be truly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Connie, sons Eric (Lisa) Swanson, Mike (Dawn) Swanson, Mathew (Jamie) Swanson, daughter Megan (Jim), Koch, grandchildren Taya (Gavin) Swanson, Hailey Swanson, Peyton Swanson, Morgan Swanson, Jordan Swanson, Gunner Swanson, Lucy Swanson, Chelo Swanson, Grace Koch, Patience Koch, Lily Koch, Hudson Koch, Saaliyah Koch. David was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Mildred, and his wife Mary.
David will be buried next to Mary in the Garryowen Cemetery at a later date.
