Mary Kathryn Swanson, 64, of Elk Point passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.
Mary was born on July 4, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD to George and Vivian (Putnam) Knudsen. She graduated from Beresford High School in 1964, and from Stewart's Beauty School in 1965. She married David Swanson on June 4, 1966 in Beresford, SD. She and David moved to Elk Point and raised their 4 children on the family farm.
Mary is survived by her husband David Swanson; sons Eric (Sue) Swanson, Mike (Dawn) Swanson and Matt (Jamie) Swanson; daughter Megan (Jim) Koch; 12 grandchildren; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
She is preceded in death by parents George and Vivian Knudsen and sister Reta Tidblom.
There will be a visitation held from 5:00-6:00 PM at Kober Funeral Home, Elk Point with a prayer service to begin at 6:00 PM with Fr. David Roerich officiating.
