James Henry Beckort, 88, of Grandview, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at his home.
Jim was born in Spencer County, Indiana on June 14, 1931 to the late Roy Wayne Beckort and Mabel (Adams) Beckort Schraner.
Jim was a member of Lincoln Hills Baptist Church. He was a faithful servant of God and had been on several mission trips.
He had served in the United States Army, was a 60 year member of Rockport American Legion Post 254 and a member of their Color Guard.
He had been a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service for nearly 20 years and enjoyed helping Bernard Hurm and Bobby Ray on their farms. He also enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, and camping.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Lola Mae Beckort; infant daughter, Pamela Jane Beckort; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Massey) Beckort of Grandview, IN; daughters, Cheryl Simons and her husband, Jeff, of Rockport, IN and Cindy Flores and her husband, Jesus, of Huntingburg, IN; stepson, Raymond Wallace; grandchildren, Shari Percifield, Wesley Horn, Chrystal Cruz, Amber Valezquez, and Justin Adams; step-grandchildren, Jerad Wallace and Audrey Wallace; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Fred Beckort and Margie Schraner.
Visitation will take place from 12 PM until 4 PM on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Indiana.
