Charles London Stephens built the stone part of the Jail in Americus, Lyon County, Kansas. On July 30, 1899 he was given 30 days to finish the job. This jail is still there & have posted a picture of it with his nephew Albert Craig standing in front of it.

C. L. Stephens died early Tuesday morning. MR. Stephens was past 80 years of age and had been a great sufferer with cancer. Through the kindness of many friends over the city his lst days were made as comfortable as possible. He is survived by a widow and one son. Funeral services were held Wednesday and interment was made in Greenwood Cemetery.
