George E. Bechman, 74, Dies Today
George E. Bechman, 74, who spent 20 years farming in the Bartholomew county area, died at 6 a.m. this morning at Johnson county Memorial hospital in Franklin.
Mr. Bechman, who moved to Franklin in 1953, had been in the hospital for four weeks.
Born in Madison, April 28, 1892, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bechman. He married Bonnie Wright, who died in 1947.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harry Wilds of Washington, D.C., and two sons, Robert Bechman of Greenwood and Roy Bechman of Franklin, an employe at Farmers Marketing association here.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Maggie Eisenheardt; a brother, John Bechman, and seven grandsons. Seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Bechman was a member of the Providence Christian church, the American Legion, and a 50-year charter member of the Farm Bureau. He was a veteran of the first world war.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Vandivier funeral home in Franklin conducted by the Rev. Rollin Hill. Burial will be at the Greenlawn cemetery. Persons may call at the funeral home after noon Sunday.
