Owen S. Bechtel

Owen S. Bechtel of RR 2, Kitchener, died last Thursday at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital at the age of 80.

Born in Wilmot Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Noah Bechtel, he farmed in the township until his retirement in 1952. He was a member of Mannheim Mennonite Church.

His first wife, the former Melissa Knechtel, died in 1936.

Survivors include his second wife, the former Margaret Gingerich; five sons, Clinton of Kitchener, Leonard of Doon , Delfred of Baden, Eldon of Preston, and Lloyd of Doon; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Elsie) Eby, Petersburg, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary June) Willsie, Kitchener, and Mrs. David (Avon) Burkholder, Edmonton; a brother Eden, Kitchener; four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Knarr, Preston, Mrs. John (Ida) Shantz, Breslau, Mrs. Edna Lugibihl, Pandora, Ohio, and Mrs. Roy (Nettie) Snider, Milverton, 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren

He was predeceased by a daughter, Ruby, in 1939 and by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral service was conducted at Mannheim Mennonite Church on Saturday, Rev. Gordon Bauman officiating.

Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.
