Obituary, The Record, Kitchener, Ontario Monday, April 21, 2003 BECHTEL, Delfred Earl (Del) - Died peacefully, on Saturday, April 19, 2003, at St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener, Del Bechtel of New Hamburg. He was born 82 years ago in Wilmot township, a son of the late Owen S. and Melissa (Knechtel) Bechtel. Del was a member of Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg. He was employed as a carpenter for many years and enjoyed working at the Seniors woodworking Shop, Baden. Del was an honorary member of the Wilmot Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed travelling and camping. He loved time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and conversing with anyone who would listen. Beloved husband of the late Pearl Snyder, who predeceased him April 1, 1998. Loving father of Muriel and Marvin Bowman of Goderich, Gerald (Gerry) and Sheila Bechtel of Elmira, Nancy (and the late Jake) Schwartzentruber of Baden, Brenda Neave and Gary Janes of Cambridge, Bev and Harold Subject of Brussels and Darlene Wegford of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by 15 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and eight great-grandsons. Dear brother of Leonard and Nora Bechtel of New Hamburg, Clint and Hilda Bechtel of Cambridge, Eldon and Bertie Bechtel of Waterloo, Lloyd and Beatrice Bechtel of Burlington, Mary June and Ken Willsie of Waterloo, Avon and Joe Brophy of Nova Scotia. Lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ethel Roth of Baden, Lorne and Ruth Bowman of Kitchener, Vernice and Myrtle Snyder of New Hamburg and a numberof nieces and nephews. Also remembered by Paul Wegford of Philipsburg. Del was predeceased by sisters, Ruby and Elsie and her husband Edwin Eby and by brothers-in-law, Ray Snyder and Henry Roth. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Tuesday, April22, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at noon, transfer will be made to Hillcrest Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jan Steckley and Pastor Henry Regehr officiating.Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of one's choice.
