Roberta Helen Ray, 83, of Winter Haven, FL, formerly of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on January 25, 1937 in Frankfort, IN to the late Irwin Aaron and Edna Violet (Reed) Payne. She was a 1958 graduate of Logansport High School. Roberta was a nursing aid at Logansport Hospital for many years before working at Purdue University.

On March 20, 1960, she married John Robert Ray in Logansport. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2008.

Roberta was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching TV, playing cards and marbles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are three children; one sister; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joy Arlene Ray; three sisters, Beulah Maxine Pence, Charlene Birden and Inez Arlene Pence; and five brothers, Douglas, David, Donald, Irwin and William Payne.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 2 PM with Reverend Bill Murdock officiating. Burial to follow at Meadow View Cemetery.
