Marion E. Wirey dies at hospital

Marion E. "Sarge" Wirey, 62, a Sahara Hotel Casino executive died July 5 at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital after an illness of one month.

Born July 3, 1918 in Franklin, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wirey.

He moved to Las Vegas in 1946 from Nellis Air Force Base where he served as a gunnery instructor during World War II.

In 1963 he joined the Sahara Hotel where he was assistant Keno manager at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine (Ball) Wirey, daughter, Susan Kay Wirey, son, Bruce Wirey, all of Las Vegas; sister Margaret Wantland, Indianapolis; brothers, Orville Wirey, Speedway, and Floyd Wirey, Trafalgar.
