Walden Haslam Jones, 82, passed away May 6, 1989 at his home from natural causes.
Born April 10, 1907 in Hunter, Salt Lake County, Utah to Robert E. and Mary Ann Haslam Jones. Married Nan M. Simmonds, July 26, 1934 in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death November 18, 1973. Married Luella Ruen, June 13, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a graduate of the LDS Business College and was retired from the Utah Power and Light Company. He served as a missionary in the Southern States Mission, January 1927 - March 1929. He and Luella served as Couple Missionaries in the Canada Toronto Mission, May 1976 - November 1977. They came home to serve as missionaries involved in the Genealogy Name Extraction program of the Liberty Stake, September 1978 - December 1984. For a period of over forty years, beginning in 1940, his church service included, serving as a clerk or a counselor to two Stake Presidents, twelve Bishops and one Branch President. He loved every one of them. He loved and was very proud of his brothers and sisters.
Survivors: wife, Luella, Salt Lake City; sons and daughter, Carl Jones and wife Nancy, Cortez, Colorado; Michael Jones and wife Karen, Mrs. Ralph (Shirley) Bennett, all of Salt Lake City; brothers and sisters, Alvin Jones, Santa Rosa, California; Wendell H. Jones, John H. (Jack) Jones; Melva Kilpatrick, Mrs. Robert (Afton) Wellington, Cleone Davies, all of West Valley City; Mabel Jones, Tooele, Utah; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by first wife, Nan; sisters, Mary and Margaret, brother, Horace; son, Marlon; grandson, Darwin and an infant daughter.

Funeral services Wednesday, May 10, 1989, 12 noon, 2nd Ward Chapel, 704 S. 500 East. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior Wednesday at the church. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
