Floyd R. Wirey, 83, Edinburgh, died Tuesday at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Franklin.

Born April 27, 1900, in Johnson County, he was the son of William and Emma (Wray) Wirey.

He retired in 1973 from Amos-Thompson Corp., Edinburgh, where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of First Christian Church, Edinburgh.

A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Eskew Funeral Home, Edinburgh, with the Rev. Hugh Owen officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh.

Surviving are three sisters, Lillian Wirey, Edinburgh; Hazel Alexander, Greenwood; and Violet Hinkle, Greensburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Solomon) Wirey, in 1967.

Edinburgh -- Floyd R. Wirey, 83, of Edinburgh, died Tuesday morning at Johnson County Memorial Hospital at Franklin after being ill several months.

He was a 35-year employee of Amos Thompson Corp., retiring in 1973.

Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Hugh Owen at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Eskew Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Wirey was born April 27, 1900, in Johnson County, the son of William and Emma Wray Wirey. He married Margaret Soloman who died in 1967. He was a member of the first Christian Church of Christ of Edinburgh.

Survivors include three sisters, Lillian Wirey of Edinburgh, Hazel Alexander of Greenwood and Violet Hinkle of Greensburg.
