LIFE SKETCH OF MRS. SKAFTE

Carrie Eleanor Brimmer was born at Brodhead, Wisconsin, November 20, 1863, and died at her home in Goldfield on July 7, 1931. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Brimmer who had preceded her in death and was one of four children – a sister, Emma passed away in early youth. She came to Iowa with her parents at the age of twelve and lived on a farm near Woolstock, later moving to Renwick. Mrs. Skafte often told of the trip made by her family from Wisconsin to Iowa in a covered wagon and of many experiences of pioneer life in Iowa. For twelve years she was a successful teacher in the schools of Wright County. On April 6th 1892, she was united in marriage to E. F. Skafte and to this union two children were born, Mellie Skafte Olson and Lloyd Skafte. The family lived near Renwick several years and in 1908 they moved to Goldfield where they have since resided.

Mrs. Skafte united with the Baptist church in early life and since that time her one interest outside ot her home and family has been the church and its activities. While she has not been strong for many years, she always made an effort to attend the services of the church and take part in any way she could. She was a devoted mother to her family and a friend to all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, her daughter, son and granddaughter, Betty Skafte; her sister, Mrs F. C. Moseley, and a brother, E. C. Brimmer of Hollywood, Calif., besides a host of relatives and friends.
