Rella Marie Jacoby was born December 11, 1898 in Mulberry, Indiana. She married Nicholas John Bion (b: August 22, 1892) on May 8, 1915 in Walton, Indiana. Her parents were William Henry Jacoby (b: 1873) and Marry Elizabeth Haas (b:1869). Her husband Nicholas worked as a car repairman and the couple lived at 1222 Wright Street in Logansport. They had one child, Emerson L. Bion who was born in October 12, 1918.

The marriage between the two would be short lived However. Nicholas contracted the Spanish Flu in 1918. On November 21, 1918, Nicholas died at the age of 26 in Logansport. They had been married 3 years, and Emerson was barely a month old. Rella remarried on March 16, 1920 to Ralph Ford (b: 1891). Rella had three children with Ralph. Donald Wayne (b: 1931), Mary Josephine Ford (b: 1934), and William G. Ford (b: 1937). Emerson Bion remained with his mother and Ralph as well.
