Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Kay (Hargis) Strole, whom he married on August 26, 1960 in West Terre Haute; three daughters; four sisters; three sister-in-laws; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Donald, John, Ray, Dale, Ronald, Marvin, and Larry; and one sister, Irene Preston.
He was a member of the West Terre Haute Masonic Lodge 687 Free & Accepted Masons, the Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, and Zorah Shrine. He had been a longtime supporter of 4-H and he was a member of the Vigo County Farm Bureau Association. He enjoyed spending time in Florida and picking oranges at the grove with the Florida friends who he thought so much of.
A graveside service which all friends and family are welcome will be at 2 PM on Friday, December 13, 2013 in Brick Church Cemetery, which is located north of U.S. 150 on Rangeline Road in New Goshen, with the Rev. Vicky Eaton officiating. After the services, family and friends are also welcome to gather at his beloved farm home place.
