Albert James "A. J." Loftus was one of the four children of James D. Loftus and Mary Alice Shuman Loftus. He married Fancis Eva Distler in Dearborn Co., IN on 11-27-1913. Their four children were Wallace Dale Loftus, Donald Albert Loftus, Alberta May "Peggy" Loftus, and Loren Distler Loftus. During a visit to the Loftus home in Moore Hill, IN on 11-9-1975 cousin Lillie Etta Shuman Saxon remembered that Albert was afraid of white rats; she recalled that her father Ernest teased Albert once by flipping a white shirt collar at Albert who thought it was a rat and almost fainted!
