Roy L. Long, 85, of Waverly, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born on April 24, 1927 in Scottville Township, IL, the son of the late Javan J. and Gennie L. (Preston) Long. He was one of 10 children. Roy married Marjorie L. Goacher on March 11, 1948 in Waverly, IL and she preceded him in death on April 22, 1998.
Mr. Long worked as a mechanic and bait shop owner. He previously was a farmer. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by a daughter Donna Dyke of Waverly, IL, a sister Marjorie White of Jacksonville, IL, 4 grandchildren, Randy Long of Waverly, IL, Eric Long of Hillsboro, IL, Jeremiah Dyke and Jonathan Dyke, both of Waverly, IL.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Darrel and Donald Long, 5 sisters, and 3 brothers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield.
No services are scheduled at this time. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
