Betty June Chapman, 58, of Waverly died Thursday morning, July 18, 1996 , at her home.
She was born Oct. 2, 1937, in rural Waverly, the daughter of Javan Julius and Jenny Elizabeth Preston Long. She married Vernon Ray Chapman Dec. 15, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Surviving are three daughters, Sarah A. (husband Archie) Turner of Jacksonville, Patricia L. (husband Raymond) Baker and Debra L. (husband Bud) Cagle, both of Waverly; four brothers, Julius Javan Long and Roy Long, both of Waverly, Ralph Long of Athensville and Harvey Long of Franklin; three sisters, Myrtle Hendricker of Shelbina, Mo., Martha Waters of Jacksonville and Marjorie White of Franklin; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Leamons and Bonnie Seymour.
Mrs. Chapman was the head cook at Waverly Grace School and a member of Waverly New Life Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Neece Funeral Home in Waverly with burial at Waverly East Cemetery.
