Joseph N. Abate, 69, of Rockford, died Tuesday, June 20, 1995, in Park Strathmoor Nursing Home. Born Oct. 1, 1925 in Rockford, the son of Cologero and Angelina Solito Abate. Lifelong Rockford resident. Married to the former Jacqueline Palmenderi on June 18, 1949, in Rockford.
Employed 29 years by Borg Warner and Rockford Clutch, retiring as set-up man. U.S. Army veteran of World Ward II. Member of St. Antony Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline; two brothers, Alex Abate and Carl (Evelyn) Abate of Rockford; four sisters, Pearl Spinell of Kansas City, Mo., Mamie Hachez and Bertha (Sam) Colmone of Rockford and Lena (Chuck) Anderson of Arizona. Predeceased by parents and one brother, Vito Abate.
