Bertha Frances (Abate) Colmone, 92, of Rockford passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, in her home. She was born August 20, 1923, in Rockford, the daughter of Cologio and Angelina Abate. She married Sam Colmone on May 23, 1941, in Boston, MA. She was a member of St. Anthony Church, Altar and Rosary and the Moose Club. Survivors include her children, Fran (Ronald) Lowder, Barbara (Brian) Joiner and Anj (Mike) Dobson; grandchildren, Ronald A. Lowder, Michelle Pauletto, Chris Hall, Sam Colmone Jr. of Arizona, Dan Colmone of Arizona, Clifford Colmone of Arizona, Victoria Gillette of Arizona, Terry Joiner and John Joiner, Leslie Dobson and Aaron Dobson; 27 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters; husband, "Gramps" Sam; son, Sam; grandson, Kevin; great-granddaughter, Felicia; great-grandson, Matthew; and great-great-grandson, Julian.
Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, in St. Anthony Church, with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
