FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. DURYEA
MRS. DURYEA LIVED IN TABLE ROCK FOR PAST 20 YEARS; WAS 89 YEARS OLD
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Emma Duryea, 89, who died at the Pawnee Hospital Sunday evening. Mrs. Duryea, a resident of Table Rock for the past 20 years, was the mother of Mrs. Charles Harlow and Mrs. Pearl Freeman, with whom she had made her home for some time.
Funeral services were held at the Kovanda Chapel in Table Rock, with Rev. W. H. Merrill in charge. Interment was at the Table Rock cemetery.
Emma J. Bacon was born December 29, 1854 at Williamsport, Penn., and died in the Pawnee Hospital August 8, 1943 at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage to Andrew J. Duryea, September 14, 1874, and to this union eight children were born, five girls and three boys. One boy and one girl having died in infancy, there are left to mourn her loss, Mrs. Cora Slater of Pawnee City, John Duryea of Ann Arbor, Mich., Charles Duryea of Thompsonville, Ind., Mrs. Maggie Harlow and Mrs. Pearl Freeman, both of Table Rock; Two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kerr of Severy, Kansas and Mrs. Amelia Duryea of Dawson, Nebr.; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Duryea were both members of the Methodist Church, Mr. Duryea preceded his wife in death in October 1930 and Mrs. Duryea spent her last days with her daughters in Pawnee County.
