Visitation for Ray J. Benoit, 100, of Kankakee, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais. Father Richard Pighini will officiate. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Maternity BVM Catholic Church, or to St. Patrick Catholic Church. He died Sunday (Dec. 6, 2009) at his home. Mr. Benoit retired from Ray J. Benoit Construction, where he worked for 50 years (1930-1973). He was born July 2, 1909 in Bourbonnais, the son of Joseph D. and Salinise Lambert Benoit. His wife, the former Leonie June "Sally" Regnier, whom he married Sept. 2, 1931, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee, died May 13, 1994. He was a former member of the Elks and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Pam Benoit of Palm City, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Fred Hendron of Kankakee; nine grandchildren, Douglas, Sally Rae, Scott and Michael Hendron; Jay and Allison Benoit, Andrew Benoit, Timothy and Linda Benoit, Daniel and Raquel Benoit, Kristen and Dean Hoppes and their mother, Diane Macaluso; 14 great-grandchildren. His parents and seven brothers and six sisters are deceased.
