Jeanette was preceeded in death by grandson Teddy Morris and great grandson Dennis Boelter, sister (Sr. Doris Mertens) and brothers (Francis, Robert, Leo and Raymond.).
Jeanette was born on The Park Farm in Kiel, WI, the 3rd eldest of Marie and Clemens Merten’s children, a professed tomboy who loved the outdoors and romping in the fields over helping in the house with the 7 children who followed her. She graduated valedictorian of Kiel High School, then headed to Milwaukee to provide financial help for the family during the depression. She soon joined a biking team, often riding home (72 miles) along the highway on week-ends. Her love of biking continued into her 70’s where she could often be seen riding along Milwaukee’s south shore. During her active family life, she was an avid gardener and baker, especially of homemade breads and stollen and she played a mean game of cribbage and Sheepshead. She also was a devoted volunteer for Channel 10/36 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Health Dept, Beulah Brinton Senior Nutrition Site and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin where she worked in the Gift Shop for 26 years. She was a member of St. Anne Altar and Rosary Society at Immaculate Conception Parish in Bay View, Wisconsin where she treasured her Catholic faith.
Visitation (Wednesday April 5, 2017 from 9:30am-11:00am) SS Peter and Paul Church, 413 Fremont St. Kiel, WI 53042 with 11:00 Mass to follow.
Her loving smile and keen wit will be missed greatly missed, along with her baking wisdom and special love of the little ones in the family.
